JK Bank Grand Finale on March 15

 

Srinagar: The search for the new music sensation of the Valley which saw hundreds of participants competing for the coveted title in a series of rounds and vocal performances is on way to its completion as the stage for the grand finale of Valley`s famed reality show ‘JK Bank Milay Sur – a talent hunt initiative’ is all set with the musical event to be telecast live on DD Kashir from SKICC on March 15.

According to an official statement issued here on Tuesday the gala event during which renowned singers and musicians of the state and bollywood would be present would mark the end of the talent hunt series with top five budding singers Yawar Ali, Umer Khan, Kabul, Aqib Asad and Abid Ali sorting it out for the title of the year.

“The performance of the top five participants competing in the grand finale would be judged by music experts and renowned singers and musicians of bollywood and the state,” said the statement.

Sponsored by Jammu and Kashmir Bank during the auditions for the second session of the reality show the public broadcaster Doordarshan Srinagar received more than 700 participants out of which 332 qualified the screening test.

The statement said “There were 332 participants who competed in the Sur round and from these 332 participants 168 were selected for the Sur-taal round which was held at Tagore hall. From Sur-Taal round 92 participants were then short listed for track round which continued for some 21 episodes.”

It added “From 92 participants 58 got selected to the next level of competition called first competitive round and it continued for 13 episodes. After these 13 episodes 28 contestants were selected for the second competitive round which continued for 7 episodes. Then from 14 contestants the competition became stiffer with top ten and finally with top five.”

Quoting officials of J&K Bank, the statement said “As per the commitment of Bank the first prize winner would be awarded Rs, 2 lakh, second prize winner Rs 1.50 lakh and the third prize winner Rs one lakh.”

Notably the grand finale would see the participants performing both Kashmiri and Hindi film songs. Knowledge of Kashmiri music and language was made mandatory during the entire course of the competition.
